Contribute to OutdoorEd.com

Is outdoor or experiential education your passion? Do you like to share your knowledge with others? The goal of Outdoor Ed is to bring together the knowledge and experience of professional educators from around the world. If you have knowledge to share, Outdoor Ed is the place to post your techniques, protocols, curriculum, philosophy, or research with the rest of the outdoor education world. There are lots of ways to contribute:

  • News Items - if you see or hear of a newsworthy item - Send It to us
  • Educational Videos - find a great educational video on YouTube or Vimeo - Send It to us
  • Articles & Research Papers: We publish articles and research papers on a broad range of outdoor education topics, including republishing material from journal articles and other sources. Contact Us about the various format options for publication.
  • Submit Files - Do you have protocols for your Climbing Wall, teaching curriculum for kayaking, PowerPoints you use for staff training? Registered members of the Outdoor Ed Community can upload files to our Curriculum & Media Center including Powerpoint, PDF, Word, as well as Videos and links.
  • Become a Blogger - Do you present at confernces and are interested in contributing on a regular basis Contact Us about becoming a Contributing Blogger.

What Sort of Material do you Take?

We take submissions on all aspects of outdoor and experiential education - articles on technique, training, curriculum, philosophy, research, equipment, protocols, risk management, etc.

All submissions will be reviewed to make sure they meet our editorial standards before being accepted. Writing style is up to you. The key is to write about something you know well that you can write about with confidence. Depending on the current queue of submissions, it can take up several weeks before your article will appear.

Author's Rights & Copyright Issues

We respect the rights of all authors for their creative works. That's why anything that you submit must either:

  1. Be Your own work,
  2. Be openly Sharable from the Original Site (such as YouTube videos),
  3. Be in the Public Domain or covered by an Open License like Creative Commons or CopyLeft that allows it to be published elsewhere (in which case it must carry the appropriate Share-Alike or other references),
  4. Or be only a Link to the Original Work

If the material is your own, as the Author your retain the right to use the material in any other setting as you see fit. If this material has already been published in another copyrighted work by the author, you and/or your publisher must grant us permission to reproduce it here. Once submitted to and accepted for publication, all submitted content becomes part of our site and Outdoor Ed retains the right to publish the material on the Web at this or other Web sites we administer. Outdoor Ed may not use the material in any non-Web form of publication without the express permission of the author(s).

When using material from other sources, it is your responsibility to respect the rights of other authors like yourself. Authors are legally required to properly cite their sources and include it in a bibliography or reference section at the end of your article. Outdoor Ed LLC does not assume any liability for copyright infringement on articles submitted to us. It is the submitter's responsibility to properly cite material and the submitter is liable for any copyright infringement..
