  10. Make a difference in the life of a child while having fun in the outdoors! Birch Trail Camp is a traditional summer camp for girls aged 7-15. We provide a safe, fun, and non-competitive summer camp environment for almost 200 campers and close to 100 staff. While in camp, the girls have the opportunity to do a wide variety of activities including, canoeing, sailing, swimming, water skiing, climbing, land sports, horseback riding, arts & crafts, tennis, dance, yoga, and drama. One of the hallmarks of a Birch Trail experience is our extensive wilderness trip program.

At Birch Trail, Wilderness Trip Leaders lead groups of girls on 3-8 day camping trips in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Canada, including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Isle Royale. Depending on their experience, Trip Leaders may guide basic camping, backpacking, flat-water and white-water canoeing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and rock climbing trips. Under the guidance and training of the Trip Director, Trip Leaders are responsible for arranging the logistics, routes, and equipment selection for each trip. While on the trips, the Trip Leaders serve as guides and educators to both the campers and counselors participating the program. We provide extensive training at camp in both camping and counseling skills so that the entire Trip Staff is ready to work with the campers. We also offer opportunities for Trip Leaders to earn certifications, including American Red Cross Life Guard Certification (LGT) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Our Trip Leaders work as a team to provide safe and fun wilderness experiences for our campers. There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the in-camp program.

  11. Under the guidance of the Trip Director, Wilderness Trip Leaders guide basic camping, backpacking, flat-water and white-water canoeing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and rock climbing trips depending on their own experiences and backgrounds. Additional responsibilities include:

  12. Both women and men are encouraged to apply to be Wilderness Trip Leaders. Trip Leaders should have extensive experience and interest in camping and working with children.
