  10. Program Instructors will carry out 1-2 week overnight adventure programs for campers ages 8-18. Maximum camp session size is 30 campers & we keep a 1:5 adult/camper ratio.

    Traditional Camp Activities include:

    Archery, Arts & Crafts, Campfires, Field Games, Free Time, Giant Swing, Instincts for Survival, Teambuilding & Ropes Courses, swimming in mountain streams, Water Games & Giant Slip N Slide, Wilderness Skills (fire building, shelters etc.), Zip Line

    Adventure Activities include:

    • Backpacking 
    • Canoeing (day + overnight, lake & river)
    • Caving
    • Hiking (including ecology)
    • Top-rope Rock Climbing & Rappelling
    • Teambuilding through low & high ropes elements
    • Trail Rides
    • White water rafting

    ALL programs emphasize group-building ,character development, environmental stewardship and community living. Expeditions for rising 7th-12th grade campers are driving intensive and qualified leaders must be 21 years old to drive 15 passenger vans. Other responsibilities include facilitating evening activities at camp or at the campsite location and managing individual program logistics with a co-leader.

    Programs take place at multiple locations including:

    Base Camp: Luray, VA

    Shenandoah National Park

    Shenandoah River

    George Washington National Forest

    New River Gorge, WV

  11. Must be able to safely lead activities with co-leader and be a good role model. Responsible for planning and leading 1 and 2 week trips and working in camp activities.
  12. The following are characteristics/qualities that a successful candidate is expected to match regardless of position:

    • Maturity: Possess mature judgment necessary for the ongoing demands and safety requirements of the program.
    • Communication: Must have the ability to be a compassionate, sensitive, careful listener and articulate communicator.
    • Personality/Motivation: Must be self-motivated and act as a role model possessing personality characteristics that will accelerate and maintain a healthy rapport with participants and other instructors.
    • Flexibility/Patience/Organization: Must have the patience to respond to stress, crisis, change and non-glamorous tasks in a positive and productive way at all times. Must have the ability to organize and assure a smooth flow of activities.

    The following Experience and Education are expected of a successful candidate:

    • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in education, outdoor recreation, environmental studies or a related field;
    • Experience working with/teaching youth ages 8-18;
    • Knowledge and experience leading outdoor programs including specific activities offered;
    • Minimum current certification in First Aid/CPR & Wilderness First Responder is required by the starting date;
    • Current unrestricted drivers license and clean background check.


  13. - $250+/week, Additional compensation based on experience

    -Room & board, laundry, and internet are included with contract

    -Paid training

    -WFR certification is offered June 15-23, 2013
