  11. The Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center is seeking 1 more instructor to join our great staff  for a busy fall of school programs. The Penn 4-H Center specializes in school-based, residential programs that take advantage of our 250 acres of rolling hills, lakes, streams and forests. Programs are experiential in nature and serve up to 4000 students each year. 

    **Fall season instructors work August 15 - November 16**

     

    DUTIES PERFORMED 1) Provide instruction for programs in environmental science and cultural history to elementary school students in the Environmental Education Program. 2) Facilitate ground initiatives, team challenge course elements and high ropes activities with middle school students in the Soaring Thru Spaces Program. 3) Provide leadership for GPS-based, outdoor science explorations with middle school students in Project O.R.I.E.N.T. 4) Participate in logistical & preparatory duties for both day and residential outdoor education programs. 5) Enhance the mental, physical, and social development of the students participating in the program by being a positive role model, a creative and energetic teammate and an excited leader. 6) Participate in ongoing, extensive training programs that prepare staff in content knowledge, program delivery and safety procedures. 7) Instructors oversee both day and evening programs, but no overnight supervisory duties are required.

  12. The fall program season consists mostly of team building and high ropes course activities with students in 5th grade through high school. A desire to facilitate high ropes activities safely and enthusiastically is a requirement (Training provided). There will also be a good mix of environmental science and gps based science throughout the season as well.

  13. Applicants should have a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies, Education, Parks and Recreation, Biological & Earth Sciences, or other related fields. Stellar performance and experience with children in outdoor environments may take the place of some college classes. Individuals must have a commitment to the environment, a strong love of working with kids, an interest in adventure-based or experiential education, and well developed communication skills. Creativity, enthusiasm, patience and a love for hard work in a team atmosphere are also crucial to successful hiring and job completion.
  14. $250-$270 per week, plus room and board on-site. Instructors have a private room in the staff house with wireless internet and laundry facilities. Five day work week with compensation days given for additional work days. (Provided room and board for Staff only. Significant others, friends, family members do not qualify)
  15. Season begins August 15, 2012...Very Soon!! We are seeking 1 more instructor to quickly join our wonderful group of staff for our fall season. Fall season ends Nov. 16, 2012.
