  10. Georgia Tech’s Campus Recreation Center via Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech is seeking Challenge Course Facilitators to continue our premier level of excellence and professionalism in the delivery of exceptional quality Challenge Course programs.

    Georgia Tech's Leadership Challenge Course integrates the best parts of low-tech ropes course learning experiences with the use of technology enhanced learning tools - think texting another group on the high course to discover how to complete a task.  The course

    is a unique custom designed 3 tower Odyssey-type course s double-decker high course with 2 hydraulic zip line exits and 4 Leaps-of-Faith exits.


    We are looking to add to our staff that consists of both beginner facilitators and advanced and  experienced  Facilitation staff.

    Frequency of work:

     This is a part time on-call (as programs dictate) position. 

    The number of groups will determine how often work is available. Both weekend and weekday and Weeknight work will be available.  Additional paid training days will also be scheduled.

    Last year we had about 3,000 participants during 86 program days. 

    Candidates with strong skills in teaching, instructing, coaching, training, and other development skills are encouraged to apply. Technical training on the challenge course operations will be provided. 
    • Deliver content and skill building sessions
    • Group management, group processing, promoting transfer of experiences, and risk management
    • Conduct or assist with teaching leadership skill mini-lessons during courses with subject such as: Effective communication, Critical thinking, Group problem solving, etc…
    • Equip and instruct participants in proper use of facilities, equipment and supplies.
    • Teach and Monitor participant’s proper safety practices
    • Conduct or assist with emergency rescues/lowers as appropriate
    • Conduct or assist with completion of various paperwork including items such as equipment use logs, incident reports, etc….
    • Conduct or assist with set up and breakdown of course equipment including safety gear, course elements and classroom-type equipment including items such as tables, chairs, whiteboards, LCD projector, computers, etc…
    • Perform minor maintenance of course elements (e.g. clear leaves on elements, wipe down equipment after use, tidy work area, etc…)
    • Attend & complete technical skills and facilitation skills trainings and meetings (paid)
    • Engage in examination and evaluation processes for various skill sets
  11. Candidates should exhibit:

    • Proven group management skills
    • Sound judgment
    • Emotional maturity
    • A knack for connecting with people quickly
    • A natural intuition for reading people
    • A variety of leading and guiding styles
    • Ability to maintain an exceptional attitude in all situations
    • Able and willing to role model safety at all times.  
    • Ability to assess risks and hazards and act accordingly


    Other helpful qualifications include:

    • Have experience in presenting learning models, instruments, and other educational content.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (Free on-site certification is available after hire)
    • Background facilitating experiential education programs  or other experiential training methods
    • Talent for planning and developing (then changing as needed) programs that address client needs
    • Open to constructive feedback and capable of development
    • Ability to observe client behavior, assesses its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
    • Able to work (potentially) long hours with exposure to the sun, heat, cold, rain and other varying environmental conditions

    Must pass a standard  background check that includes:
    1) Criminal background investigation  2) Possible Drug screen
  12. Pay rates range: $12.50 to $18.25 per hour
  13. We have a pool of about 15-20 staff. Some work every shift they can get. Others only work 1 or 2 times per year.  We can work with your availability!
