Camp Towanda in northeastern PA is seeking an experienced outdoor adventure leader to maintain our level of excellence, safety and success in the delivery of quality outdoor education programs to our campers aged 6-16, all of whom are with us from late June thru mid August. Strong team building and group initiative training is essential….work projects for property upkeep are initial training tools in bringing staff together as a positive working unit.

    This is an outstanding opportunity for outdoor adventure graduates seeking professional development and experience in outdoor adventure. Help us add to our program and extend our pre and postseason business.

    • Train a staff of 18 in low and high ropes protocols; outdoor living skills 
    • Develop lesson plans for daily activities 
    • Supervise staff with daily schedules and assignments 
    • Coordinate with Operations Director training and facilitation schedule with River Liaison, Excursions Leader, Archery Trainer, Bikes maintenance, Lifeguard Training Instructor and ARC First Aid and CPR Instructor 
    • Work closely with Operations Director to coordinate off site activities to include meals, transportation and health care 
    • Keep track of all equipment, supplies and need for purchasing 
    • Maintain records for all ropes usage 
    • Maintain general facility and equipment upkeep on a daily basis-maintaining all program areas for safety and cleanliness 
    • Facilitate and run activities as needed 
    • Serve as staff member on call for all overnight camping activities, monitoring campsite
    • Debrief with staff after all out of camp outdoor adventure activities 
    • Evaluate all department staff throughout the season and make decisions about returnees for next year 
    • Organize inventory lists for end of season close down with recommendations for next years purchasing 
    • Supervise the closing down process at the end of the season making sure all equipment is properly, carefully stored and secure
    • Communicate with Camp Directors daily on the program and any concerns regarding campers and staff within the department 
    • Oversee all aspects of O&A department for ACA accreditation process 
    • Be aware of risk management and reduction while training staff and campers in their daily duties 
    • Be aware of special dietary and medical needs of participants; both campers and staff


    • Bachelors degree 
    • Experienced facilitator, proven manager of other staff 
    • Have very good communication and organizational skills 
    • Positive role model 
    • Valid drivers license 
    • Current Wilderness First Aid certification or willingness to certify by June 1
  11. Commensurate with experience includes competitive camp salary, room and board, travel stipend, laundry service and family accommodation for working spouse, Camper scholarship opportunities exist as well. 
  12. Position begins June 1 and runs thru August 20.....Could possibly go until mid September as needed.
