  10. Taught by experienced Remote Site and Offshore Care Providers, our RMUR™ course fulfills all of the requirements for National Registry EMT (Basic) Recertification, while teaching students how to manage illnesses and injuries in a remote environment.

    Held in the beautiful North Cascades of Washington State at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center, this course includes all food and lodging. Successful graduates of this course receive:

    • Wilderness EMT from Remote Medical International
    • CPR for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association
    • 24-hour EMT-Basic Refresher course
    • 48 hours of CECBEMS approved Continuing Education*
    • Prehospital Trauma Life Support from the NAEMT
    • Medical Care Person in Charge from Remote Medical International
    *This continuing education activity is approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). 

    The Remote Medicine upgrade and Recertification™ (RMUR™) course offers current EMT-Basics with their National Registry of EMTs recertification as well as experience providing remote medical care. This course focuses on the decision-making skills and advanced techniques necessary to administer care in remote environments. This course meets the needs of EMTs working in a variety of settings such as the military, maritime vessels, ski patrol, National Parks, as well as those working offshore and in tactical environments.

    Course topics include patient assessment, airway management, splinting and casting, advanced wound care including stapling and suturing, long-term care, I.V. therapy, environmental emergencies, medication administration, specialized rescue and aero medical evacuation, tropical medicine, hygiene, eye emergencies, dental emergencies, as well as special circumstances including tactical medicine, disaster operations, and international considerations.

    RMUR™ Course Site Information:

    Lodging: The Learning Center has three lodges for housing instructors and participants. Each lodge has shared gender-specific bathrooms with showers. The bedrooms vary from two to three twin beds per room. There are several public computers on campus with internet access. Two lodges have a lounge area with sofas, chairs and a limited kitchenette. If you forget your bedding or are traveling from a long distance, we have limited linen supplies for rent during your stay. If you choose to rent these items, please come prepared with cash or check to be paid upon check-in.
