Wilderness Medical Society 2021 Virtual Winter Conference

Event Category:
Feb 21, 2021 to Feb 25, 2021

The WMS 2021 Winter Conference is going virtual, February 21-25! Our summer conference was wildly successful in the virtual format, and we are excited to bring you a fantastic learning opportunity amidst the current uncertainty due to COVID-19.

Summer conference attendees’ reactions to the summer virtual format:

  • “Full of excellent practical researched medical information presented by experienced clinicians.”
  • “Incredible evidence-based talks! And so many extras (links, contacts, suggestions, anecdotes, etc.) in the sidelines via the Chat option.”
  • “I loved the virtual interaction - this was an amazing opportunity to still have a WMS community experience during the pandemic. The WMS community is so amazing!”

As you know, improvisation is one of the key tenets of wilderness medicine, and we saw this as an opportunity for the WMS to adapt and grow based on the unexpected challenges of our current times. Although many things are currently shut down or scaled back, education, creativity, and building community is continuing.

The WMS virtual conference will be an interactive format with a live chat feature, instant polls and live Q&A sessions.  You’ll, therefore, get the exceptional education that you’ve come to expect from the WMS to enhance your wilderness medicine knowledge and skills, but now also get the added benefit of accessing this education from the comfort of your home or office. And if convenience was not enough of a reason to participate, then affordability is a great reason to register.  We have once again discounted the registration fee by 50%, making this the most affordable option for FAWM and CME credit.

Highlights of the conference include an online wellness activity, more than 20 fascinating lectures including GME Mini Lectures and Bootcamp, a virtual exhibit hall, networking, and smaller breakout workshops. See the Schedule tab for more details.

(p.s. For those who were looking forward to going to Snow King, Wyoming, we are pleased to announce that we will be going there next year and will look forward to seeing you in person then!)
