Age Group Coordinator – Camp Christopher

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The AGCs are a key part of our leadership team.  Each AGC supervises one aspect of camp- either an age group or an individual camp.  AGCs have a full camp responsibility for everyday processes.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise 3-5 senior counselors, and 6-10 counselors.  Responsible for day to day supervision, goal setting, and mid summer and the end of summer evaluations. 
  • Responsible for daily operations for one age group or area of camp- schedule, supplies, camper management, parent communications, behavior management. 
  • Serve as an integral part of the central leadership team- attend daily staff meetings, help plan and implement camp wide activities and events, and be a driving force in staff training. 
  • Serve as the most visible face of camp with parents and visitors- assist in check in and out, make follow up calls and cultivate relationships with camp families. 
  • Helps to plan and execute camp special events and field trips. 
  • Reports to the camp director.
  • Take the lead to make sure camp is set up and broken down correctly, both daily and for the summer. 

Other Job Duties:

Depending on the age group or specific area of camp, corollary responsibilities may exist for equipment management and/or travel or camper extended day programs.  

Relationships:

Age group coordinators work together with every group at camp- leadership, aquatics, physical plant, campers, parents, faculty and staff. 

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, management, psychology, or other) and at least 5 years working with children and prior experience supervising staff.  Preference for candidates with extensive camp or large program experience.  Must be able to work at least 7 weeks of the 8 week camp season, as well as all of the training sessions. 

Physical Aspects of the Job:

Camp Christopher is a 170-acre camp, with 2 pools, seven fields, and countless hills.  Some camps travel off campus, trekking or climbing.  Candidates must be able to maintain an active walking presence on camp, move equipment, and maintain energy during long days outdoors.  The camp day is 8:45-4pm, but extended programs and staff meetings happen before or after camp.
