Job Description



SOAR (Success Oriented Achievement Realized) features success-oriented, high adventure programs for preteens, teens and adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (AD/HD). Emphasis is placed on developing self-confidence, social skills, problem-solving techniques, a willingness to attempt new challenges and the motivation which comes through successful goal orientation.


SOAR is a certified non-public educational academy and accredited outdoor adventure camp dedicated to a two-fold purpose:

To provide academic instruction, experiential education, interpersonal life skills development and outdoor adventure-based programming to youth dealing with Learning Disabilities, and/or Attention Deficit Disorders through their participation in the Academy at SOAR

To provide experiential education, interpersonal life skills development and outdoor adventure-based programming to youth, young adults and families dealing with Learning Disabilities, and/or Attention Deficit Disorders through SOAR’s outdoor adventure camp programs and community-based services.

SOAR is hiring for a full time Associate Director.  This position will help plan, prepare and direct the summer programs at our Eagle View Ranch base.  During the summer we serve campers age 11-18 on three separate 18 day sessions. The candidate will also direct the GAP Year at SOAR program that is based at Eagle View Ranch during the remainder of the year. During the school year we serve young adults between the ages of 18-24.  

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, training and supervising staff, scheduling, logistics, community liaison, verbal and written communication with Educational Consultants, Psychologists, volunteer partners and parents, problem solving, ensure American Camping Association standards are being met, provide phone support to teams in the field, and other tasks as necessary.


  • Relevant background and leadership experience including work in a camp, Gap year, or residential program.

  • Experience or skills in outdoor activities

  • Relevant experience with ADHD, LD, or High Functioning ASD populations

  • Experience hiring and managing staff.

  • BA or BS degree, advanced degree preferred. 

  • Must be a team player, organized, self-motivated and hard worker.

  • Current Wilderness First Responder and LifeGuard/CPR Certifications.

  • Comfort and confidence working with a diverse group of stakeholders that includes educational consultants, psychologists, parents, campers and Gap Year participants. 

  • Candidates must pass a background check and have driving record approved by SOAR’s insurance carrier.

Job Availability:
