Biking Program Leader
The Mission of Summer Camps at College Settlement is to provide camping programs and services to young people from the greater Philadelphia area, especially those who are economically disadvantaged, in order to foster personal growth through understanding, acceptance, respect for self, others and our natural world by means of enjoyable, experiential and environmental educational activities.
We are looking for four Biking Program leaders who will facilitate our summer biking program.
Our program received the American Camp Association Eleanor Ells Award for Program Excellence in 2012. .Our program is designed to allow campers to expand their biking skills by either learning to ride or strengthening their existing abilities.
Bike program staff lead groups of campers though lessons, or lead trail rides around camp and on nearby bike trails. Bike staff also maintain our fleet of 60+ Trek mountain bikes, fixing minor problems and keeping the bikes in ridable shape. Trails are grassy and flat - so no need for epic, hard-core mountain biking skills!
When not leading bike trips, bike staff help out with other camp duties such as high ropes, swimming and general counselor duties.
Applicants should be age 21+ with a clean driver’s license.
First Aid/CPR and Lifeguard Training will be provided.
Experience in outdoor recreation and youth work preferred.
Basic bike maintenance skills, bike safety training and familiarity with mountain biking instructional preferred.
Season runs June 9th-ish to August 18th 2017
Applications accepted December 2016 through April 2017
