 Since 2004 Trackers Earth has shared outdoor skills with both youth and adults.

Teach kids and adults craft and self-reliance through traditional folk craft and skills. Trackers Earth, Oregon's foremost wilderness skills school, seeks an educator for our blacksmithing program.

Blacksmithing Teacher

Our program covers all of the basics of smithing and continues on to knife and bladed tool fabrication. We appreciate specialty experience beyond the basics with an ability to develop and guide students through a curriculum that helps them become better craftspeople.


  • Blacksmithing and shop safety experience.
  • Experience teaching youth or interest in becoming a teacher.
  • Adaptability to improve every student's learning experience.


  • Ensures safety of program participants.
  • Teaches blacksmithing and other related craft.
  • Positive communication with parents, staff and participants.
  • Attend appropriate staff training.
  • Be available for work Monday - Friday during summer.
  • Contribute to and implement curriculum.
Job Availability: 

Scope: This position is for a seasonal teacher in our summer camps at 46.25 per week. This time acts as a review period and could potentially lead to part-time or full-time year-round options starting in fall.
Compensation: $617 - 650 per week DOE for seasonal summer teacher.
Location: Be able to show up for work at camps at any given site in the summer. Locations can include: SE Portland, NE Portland, W Portland, Vancouver, WA or Sandy, OR.
