Position Purpose

The CSP Program Coordinator (CSPPC) is a ten month position responsible for designing and implementing assigned programs with client groups that attend American Youth Foundation - Merrowvista. They serve as a site leader, program coordinator, program facilitator, and are a member of the program team supervised by the Director of CSP (DCSP). In addition to serving the needs of clients and programs, the CSPPC serves as a role model for interns and assists the DCSP in coaching and supporting the interns. The CSPPC also supports the camp program during the summer.

Essential Functions

  • Sets tone for the program that is reflective of AYF organizational philosophy.
  • Conducts safe programs, operating according to all program and risk management policies and procedures of AYF, the American Camp Association (ACA), the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), and all pertinent local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies.
  • Serves as a role model of Merrowvista policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Oversees all aspects of program site leading, program coordination, high ropes/climbing tower management, staff coaching, hospitality, emergency management, and/or facilitation for various assigned programs.
  • This position will spend a lot of time in program, taking groups, coordinating programs or site leading. Seasonal overnights are regularly required.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Community and School Programs, the Program Coordinator will train, support, and mentor program interns.
  • Creates and maintains positive relationships with existing clients with a focus on retention and program outcome.
  • Collaborates, coordinates, and works with other site departments (office, food program and facilities) regarding program needs.
  • Attends and fully participates in all program team meetings.
  • Runs and/or supports all aspects of program: organizing pre-program information, creating and confirming program schedules with clients, coaching and giving feedback to facilitators, interfacing with clients while on site, running large group experiences during program, and facilitating the entire group through the program.

Secondary Functions

  • Assists with general facility upkeep, openings and closings.
  • Provides program support including ropes course management and curriculum development.
  • Responsible for individual projects as approved/determined by AYF Program, Operation, and Site Directors.
  • Follows annual AYF budget as determined by budget manager and makes only approved purchases.
  • Actively works to help create an effective and positive work team at the site.
  • Represents the site programs and AYF at regional, local, and national meeting and events.
  • Serves as a member of the Site Central Staff Team and attends weekly full time staff meetings.
  • Serves as a member of the Site Emergency Response Team.
  • Serves as a Site Leader with overnight and on-call responsibilities.
  • Fulfills summer camp functions as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Minimum Education, Experience and/or Certification

  • 2-3 years facilitation experience
  • Prior experience working with youth
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office package with strong aptitude and interest with demonstrated skills in word processing, spreadsheet and data management applications [added]
  • Wilderness First Responder, CPR and Lifeguard certification preferred

Work Environment

  • Position work is located in Center Tuftonboro, NH.
  • Part-time office, part-time outdoor environment.
  • Merrowvista’s site necessitates the capacity to move through rugged terrain.
  • Business casual, appropriate attire for multiple, differing settings.
  • Hours as required to meet job demands, generally Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm outside of peak program season.
  • Evening and overnight duty during the peak program season – ability to live on site and work six-day weeks in peak season.
  • Travel as needed for recruitment and meetings.
