Program Overview and Job Summary

Keystone Science School’s strong brand is built on a longstanding reputation of providing high-quality educational and character-building programs to youth and adults for over 40 years. Interns will develop digital marketing skills through hands-on instruction of social media techniques, internet advertising, and search engine optimization strategies. Throughout the internship the Digital Marketing Intern will take an active role in the completion of several projects allowing the intern to practice what is learned. At the end of the internship, the Digital Marketing Intern will have a collection of materials to include within their portfolio. The most successful intern is excited to learn, an excellent writer, and basic understanding of photography and video editing. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of social media management and brand awareness;
  • Learn about content collection and strategies of brand storytelling;
  • Gain skills in basic photo and video editing to be used with various social media platforms;
  • Develop an understanding of digital advertising techniques;
  • Gain an understanding of Google AdWords, Facebook for Business and remarketing techniques;
  • Learn about metrics used when determining the success of digital marketing campaigns;
  • Learn about search engine optimization (SEO) strategies;
  • Gain an understanding of all metrics used SEO utilizing Google Analytics;
  • Gain an understanding of email marketing and all aspects of email marketing campaigns;
  • Learn about strategies of email lead generation; 
  • Develop an understanding of current trends of email design.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Minimum Requirements

  • Have an interest in, respect for, and ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds, opinions, beliefs, abilities, and experience;
  • Effective communication and writing skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Motivation to contribute positively to the KSS at-large community;
  • Basic understanding of photography and video composition;
  • Ability to learn in a busy environment with many distractions;
  • Committed to continuous learning;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and experience with Google Docs.

Required Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • A current student in the process of attaining a degree from a two-year or four-year college or university;
  • Excellent driving record and a valid driver’s license;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment;
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Skillsets

  • Age 21+ with an excellent driving record and a valid driver's license;
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premier);
  • Ability to communicate verbally and teach in Spanish.

Travel Expectations

There will be significant travel in Summit County, but no travel outside the state.

The office space is small and the employee must have the ability to stay focused while others are working in close proximity. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but varies seasonally due to programs and staffing on campus.

Compensation

Starting wage of $12/hour. Housing and meals are available at no cost.
