Qualifications:  

  • Creativity, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Moderate to advanced ability in bike riding.
  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance & function both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance & State Police Criminal Record Check.
  • Required to be physically mobile on 200-acres of camp ground that includes rough terrain, hills and uneven pavement.

General Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the general health and safety of their assigned campers
  • Lead well-rounded and exciting activity sessions for campers ages 7 – 16
  • Establish an atmosphere in which campers feel secure, happy, and part of the group
  • Make sure their campers adhere to camp rules
  • Set a good example in all areas of camp life; act as a role model
  • Participate with their group in all camp activities
  • Cooperating with the Specialty Supervisor in matters involving rules, safety, and program
  • Follow through on approved curriculum plans
  • Share these responsibilities with other staff assigned to the same program area
  • Be drug-free (including paraphernalia) and alcohol free at camp.
  • Avoid physically and emotionally intimate relationships with all campers.
  • Facilitate the clean-up after activities as required by the specialty team
  • Teach or supervise assigned activities within their abilities
  • Be punctual to all activities and meetings
  • Be responsible for the proper use of equipment and supplies at each activity

Program Responsibilities:

  • Ability to teach mountain biking and lead mountain biking trips for campers of all abilities,  ages 7-16
  • Organize and plan mountain biking trips for campers ages 7-16
  • Instruct basic mountain bike techniques and progression
  • Perform routine bike maintenance and up keep
  • Be able to integrate Jewish values into mountain biking
  • Develop and complete weekly lesson plans 1-week prior to lesson.
  • To be responsible for managing supplies, equipment, activities, scheduling and safety concerns involved with mountain biking
  • Attend and actively participate in staff orientation, staff training, team meetings, and all-camp meetings.
  • Ensure safe operation, security and maintenance of all equipment and supplies in the mountain biking program area
