Outdoor and Environmental Educator
Teach and lead visiting 4th through 6th grade school children classes in natural sciences, outdoor skills, and group building initiatives. We are looking for staff members who are excited about working with children in an outdoor setting. You must be caring, creative, flexible and willing to work long hours while keeping a positive work attitude. College degree or 3 years experience in related field desired. Classes offered to students include: marine science, squid dissection, reptiles, group initiatives, forest ecology, wildlife ecology, sustainability and the Living Machine, canoeing, orienteering, zip line, climbing wall, archery, and more. Duties include teaching classes and implementing fun and exciting evening programs, hosting meals and some weekend responsibilities. First Aid, CPRO required. Experience with the BEETLES project preferred, but not necessary. Training will be provided in all aspects of the curriculum, program activities and emergency response.
We're currently hiring for the 2019 - 2020 school year (August 19, 2019 through June 13, 2020) $275- $300 per week starting plus paid training, opportunity for mid-season pay increase, room, board, end of season bonus, and YMCA membership. Work with a team of thirteen outdoor and environmental educators to inspire thousands of kids and make a difference.
