Job Description

Position Opening:  Outreach & Operations Manager (Half Time)

Description

The Outreach and Operations Manager conducts marketing and sales communications with current and prospective Viristar clients, and handles day-to-day administrative duties to support successful business operations.

Job Responsibilities 

Outreach

  1. Perform marketing and sales functions with current and potential clients
  2. Design, create and distribute promotional and other content on social media, blog, and elsewhere
  3. Manage advertising campaigns on social media, direct mail and elsewhere
  4. Coordinate virtual and in-person conference displays and presentations by Viristar staff
  5. Contribute to design of communications and marketing strategy to drive business activity

Operations 

  1. Perform office management duties to include responding to inquiries, purchasing supplies, etc. 
  2. Coordinate special administrative projects (such as language translation, trademark, legal research, etc.)

Other

  1. Participate in strategy and program meetings as applicable
  2. Support education programming, including class meeting coordination and Zoom tech responsibilities
  3. Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

  1. Experience in communications, outreach, marketing, sales or similar field
  2. Competence with technology such as Microsoft Office suite, messaging apps, and video-conferencing
  3. Experience with design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or the like preferred
  4. Experience with CMS (e.g. WordPress), e-learning (e.g. Moodle) and marketing (e.g. MailChimp) platforms a plus  
  5. Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  6. Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills
  7. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  8. Excellent attention to detail
  9. Ability to successfully work as team member, multi-task, and work independently
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision, and remotely
  11. Capacity to handle significant levels of innovation, ambiguity, and change, such as in start-up and young organizations 
  12. Eligibility to work in the USA
  13. Demonstrated interest in outdoor/experiential education or related fields preferred

Company Description

Viristar LLC is based in Seattle, Washington, the traditional land of the Coast Salish people past and present, and provides training and consulting services to outdoor, experiential, adventure and travel-based programs world-wide. Viristar’s four service lines are:

  1. Risk management consulting and training
  2. Business management consulting
  3. Program development, including curriculum design 
  4. Wilderness medicine training

Viristar LLC was incorporated in 2018, following 15 years of service provision as a sole proprietorship, and has provided services in the US, Canada, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand. In 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic Viristar begin providing virtual consulting and training services, including risk management reviews and outdoor safety trainings. The online-based risk management trainings for outdoor programs are currently a principal product Viristar offers. 

Viristar is well-capitalized and has seen significant growth in its three years. The organization seeks to add staff capacity through this hire. Currently Viristar has a full-time Director (also company owner) based in Seattle, and a part-time IT lead based in Malaysia. The Outreach and Operations Manager will be Viristar’s first salaried US employee.
