Paid Marketing and Administrative Internship with Adventure Treks in Hendersonville, NC

Job Description

Adventure Treks runs summer outdoor adventure camps for teenagers ages 13–18, serving approximately 450 students every summer. Our trips are 13 to 30 days in length, and run in Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Idaho, and British Columbia. Our trips focus on having fun, creating close communities, improving leadership skills, and building an appreciation of the outdoors. (Learn more at www.adventuretreks.com.) Our office intern will spend the summer in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina seeing how a small adventure travel company works. A smaller part of the summer may be spent at our traditional summer camp, Camp Pinnacle. This is a paid internship with room and board provided.

 

Dates: Mid to late May through mid-August 2019

 

Job Description: Learn about administration of an outdoor program with an in-depth internship at Adventure Treks. The following tasks will make up a large part of this internship, with room to grow and learn more as needed. The intern will be communicating daily not only with other full-time office staff, but also with field directors and instructors.

  • Support the marketing director in daily tasks, including, but not limited to:

    • Writing and editing social media posts

    • Writing and editing blogs

    • Working in Wordpress

    • Creating promotional materials

    • Shooting and editing photos and videos

  • General office administrative duties

    • Filing paperwork

    • Answering phones

    • Coordinating airline travel

    • Working in spreadsheets

 

Requirements

 

Applicants must:

  • Have a keen interest in all aspects of behind-the-scenes operations of an outdoor adventure summer camp

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Have excellent writing and editing skills

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Wordpress, and cloud-based servers

  • Have familiarity with outdoor activities, like hiking and backpacking, rafting, rock climbing, camping, kayaking, mountain biking, etc.

  • Be detail-oriented

  • Be self-motivated and willing to learn
