ARCC Programs was founded in 1983 with the goal of introducing young adults to outdoor challenges in a fun, safe and educational environment. Over the years we have evolved from offering primarily wilderness-based programs to a roster of mostly international community service-based programs.  We have become the world leader of adventure travel programs for teenagers.

ARCC summer programs and Gap Semesters take place in locations all over the world.  We offer something for everyone. Our programs are structured to strike the balance between hard work and hard play while exploring off-the-beaten-path locations around the world.  ARCC students return home with a willingness to face new challenges, a greater sense of responsibility and, most importantly, confidence in themselves.


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two years related experience

  • Proficiency in Spanish strongly desired

  • Experience working in the outdoor industry, specifically facilitating groups and working with teenagers

The Regional Director is the primary person responsible for the successful planning, management, and supervision of the ARCC adventure travel programs assigned under their directorship, including financial success.  All ARCC staff play a critical role in parent and student communications, including talking to parents on the phone as the primary form of sales of trips. Regional Directors are also integral members of ARCC’s central operations; assisting with Staff Training and providing logistical support to staff and groups out in the field as well as any emergency situations that may arise. Highlights of this position are:

  • Coordinating and planning trip logistics for assigned programs

  • Assuming financial responsibility of assigned programs (such as cost-benefit analysis, contract management, collecting fees or monies owed, and maintaining the profitability of programs).

  • Directly supervise trip leaders assigned to RD’s programs during trip operation and provide leaders and company with evaluations and feedback of staff under their direct supervision.

  • Provide logistical assistance or help with any emergency situations that may arise with any of ARCC’s operations.

  • Answer telephones and provide information/support/sales assistance or route calls to appropriate staff members year round.

  • Performs other related duties as required - these duties may vary depending on skill set and operational period but may involve (but are not limited to) the following additional categories:

    • Marketing

    • Sales

    • Staff Recruitment

    • Promotions

    • Risk Management

    • Operations (Food, Equipment, Transportation)

    • Staff Training

    • Curriculum Development

Job Availability: 

Full-time salary with benefits including 3 weeks of paid vacation per year (plus holidays), medical coverage, and 401K (after 9 months of employment).  We provide an excellent, fun, and flexible work environment, potential travel opportunities and access to pro-purchase programs with top outdoor equipment manufacturers.
