Job Description

Position Title: Seasonal Maintenance Worker
Period of work: 32 hours a week, could include weekends
Department: Property
Location: Camp Small Valley
Reports To: Facility Associate

Position Summary
Responsible for maintenance procedures as assigned by the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations that will ensure compliance of ACA guidelines along with Federal, State, local laws and codes. Properly maintain the property to be safe, welcoming and attractive for all guests.  Looking for interested applicants to work various times and schedules between April 15th and September 6th.  Flexible work hours that may include weekends and evenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the site in a neat, presentable and safe condition at all times by completing tasks assigned by the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations and Facility Associate.
  • Perform routine repair and maintenance as directed by the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations and Facility Associate.
  • Work closely with the Facility Associate to complete general maintenance projects, such as painting, pressure washing, landscaping, sanding, clearing brush, and setting up events.
  • As directed by the Facility Associate, provide support services to the summer camp including but not limited to trash pick-up, parking, and luggage handling, moving program equipment, and assisting with emergencies.
  • Work with ranger and activities leader to coordinate work schedule so that assigned maintenance tasks can be completed without interfering with program activities
  • Be aware of camp activities and movement of campers and staff when performing maintenance activities.  Stop any machinery or movement when campers are in the area. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in painting, landscaping, and using light maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Self-motivated and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
  • Ability to handle power tools and operate machinery (e.g. tractors, mowers, weed trimmers, wood splitter, etc.)
  • Must be able to handle heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds), climb ladders, work on roof or elevated surfaces, stand for long periods of time and traverse rough and/or steep terrain.
