Summer camp specialty counselors in Outdoor Adventure, Ropes Course, Mountain Biking, Kayaking & Canoe
Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, outgoing and enthusiastic Outdoor Adventure Instructors. Outdoor Adventure specialists to work with our campers, boys and girls ages 7-17 on our challenging outdoor obstacle course, high and low ropes and zip line. Also, part of our adventure program is our mountain biking program, archery, river excursions, camp crafts and camping overnights! We also have an animal farm with chickens, bunnies, goats and more!
The Outdoor Adventure program at Camp Towanda is one of the most popular places on camp, where campers are challenged to get out of their comfort zone, work as a team and take healthy risks, with the support of their camp family. Outdoor Adventure Instructors are expected set the bar for our entire staff, with their enthusiastic attitude, supportive nature and commitment to safety.
The Outdoor Adventure program consists of our high and low ropes and zip line, climbing wall and challenge course, mountain biking, treehouse obstacle course, archery, river excursions, camp crafts and overnights! We also have an animal farm with chickens, bunnies, goats and more!
Although you are hired based on your experience, we conduct onsite training before and during the summer. As an “O&A” specialist, you will work with the Director to implement lesson plans, team building, encourage campers to get out of their comfort zone, have fun and work together! Our O&A program is one of the safest places on camp, thanks to the vigilance and pride our staff take in monitoring all activities near and on our courses.
Qualifications: Minimum of 19 years of age. Completion of at least 1 year of college/university or post high school technical training. A genuine interest and proven experience working with children. A positive role model for campers to aspire to want to emulate. We are seeking highly motivated, skilled outdoors people committed to making a difference in the lives of children, sharing positive experiences and working together in a group living environment. Camp is a great place to develop strong bonds with peers and campers, to sharpen your teaching skills, to learn about yourself and others whom you are caring for.
Salary/Benefits: $1500-2500 for the season + additional stipends for current ARC certifications; room/board, laundry, travel reimbursement up to $200, and for those international staff, reimbursement of your J-1 visa costs after satisfactorily completing the season; internet access. camp sponsored evening activities, camp participation in the full camp activity areas on time off, athletic team involvement on off time with neighboring camps and transportation to the local town, Honesdale, PA and back on days and nights off.
