The College Settlement of Philadelphia was founded in 1882 to provide social, cultural and educational programs for the immigrants of South Philadelphia. The Agency operated a Settlement House in Philadelphia. The Day Camp programs were added in 1950, and have been tremendously popular, offering two four-week session each summer.
Our non-profit organization also operates a spring and fall Outdoor School program for elementary and middle school students who attend our 1, 2 or 3 day programs with their teachers.
We hire a wonderfully diverse team to run our programs. Staff members are recruited from all over the USA and abroad. We are currently looking for the right people to join us and make a positive impact on our campers.
Environmental Educators run our Nature program through the summer. Ideally, applicants should have a passion for leading kids through the amazing world that can be discovered in our creeks, forests, meadows. Our environmental education staff also have access to Pennypack Farm, a sustainable farm with wonderful teaching resources. We also have goats, donkeys, turtles and snakes as part of our animal collection. Previous teaching/youth work experience is preferred.
Duties include not only running an amazing, fun, exciting nature program for our campers, but also being part of the general camp staff – assisting with boating, fishing, swimming, Pirate Days, Crazy Science Days and all the other daily camp activities.
We also have a small animal collection - donkeys, goats, chickens, turtles and snakes. Our environmentalists are also responsible for the upkeep of this animal collection.
