Team Development Facilitator

Job Description

Facilitators will provide challenging activities and insightful questions while leading groups through any of our USNWC Team Development program options. Team Development programs include half and full-day experiences in High and Low Ropes, Wilderness Survival Instruction and Challenge, and a variety of other tailored experiences. Facilitator experience is helpful, but not required. Paid training is available and required. Recruits must pass a written test and show proficiency on a skills assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct team development programs
  • Lead groups safely and efficiently through a series of challenging activities
  • Provide a quality debriefing experience aimed at addressing the group’s goals
  • Assess group information and goals and create a series of activities accordingly
  • Complete course and gear inspections
  • Complete various documentation (inspections, reports, group plans, and assessments)
  • Work in an efficient and responsible manner without direct supervision
  • Communicate with a diverse group of participants, co-workers, and supervisors in a clear and effective manner
  • Pass a written test, show proficiency on skill assessment, and complete on-going tests/assessments
  • Work a flexible and sometimes demanding schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Engage in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrate the ability to use sound judgment, keeping safety the top priority
  • Adequate oral and written communication skills and comfort speaking with small and large groups
  • Comfortable asking questions during elicit, thought-provoking, and sometimes difficult group discussions
  • Ability to provide clear and concise safety and activity instructions
  • Work at a height of up to 120 feet (depending on particular program)
  • Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations of participants and staff
  • Maintain a team-focused mindset by contributing with a positive, supportive, and professional attitude
  • Self-motivated with an attention to detail
  • Maintain a positive attitude in adverse weather and situational conditions
  • Desire for continued professional development
  • Enthusiasm for creating stronger groups through the team development process
  • Prior Facilitator experience is very helpful but not required
  • Must complete or have current First Aid and CPR Certificate
