Volunteer Positions Available Conducting Whale Research

Job Description

Raven Adventures is seeking volunteers to assist with our annual Marine Conservation Survey in partnership with local nonprofit Grupos Ecologistas Antares (GEA) in Baja California Sur. Research volunteers will conduct marine and submarine transects, collect and analyze plankton samples, observe and collect data on whale behavior, and more. Species may include common and bottlenose dolphin, humpback, blue whale, finback, sperm whale, and orca. Additional responsibilities may include the construction of educational displays, assembling museum skeletons, and specimen collection. All data collected is logged at GEA and to be used by local marine parks. Volunteers should be self-motivated and enthusiastic about the natural world. This program is ideal for marine biology, zoology, or ecology undergraduates looking to gain experience in the field, but is by no means limited to these groups.
