Position Summary

The Rocky Mountain Program (RMP) Warehouse Manager works with the RMP team to provide support to the warehouse and logistics systems. The Warehouse Manager is a mid-level seasonal program position with supervisory responsibilities in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including general warehouse and course-related resource management, organization, inventory, and cleaning. The Warehouse Manager will also provide support with logistics training, scheduling, and mentoring of staff, as well as oversight of Head Logistics Coordinators (HLCs) and Logistics Coordinators (LCs).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Logistics Manager (LM) and Program Leadership Team (PLT) to ensure high quality logistical support for all COBS courses and students.
  • Manages warehouse systems to ensure easy packing, cleaning, repairing, and inventorying of gear, food, and supplies.
  • Tracks inventory reporting to ensure appropriate and timely ordering.
  • Supports and orients new and returning staff to warehouse and logistics procedures to ensure accurate quantities of food and equipment for each course.
  • Ensures safe, healthy, and efficient daily warehouse operations.
  • Oversees weekly vehicle checks and reports maintenance and monthly mileage to the LM.
  • Manages gear repairs and provides information to the logistics team on equipment conditions and needs.
  • Assists with other support duties including but not limited to transporting students, shopping for food, and packing food and gear.
  • Oversees warehouse cleanliness and food room restock prior to courses starts.
  • Assists with pre-season and post-season preparation, inventories, and warehouse shutdown.

  • Assists with basecamp upkeep, standards, and systems, including ensuring dorms are stocked and clean for programs.
  • Attends community and morning meetings regularly.
  • Assists in planning and executing RMP staff events and celebrations.
  • Oversees receipt of food and gear orders, track incoming invoices and receipts.
  • Participates in the Emergency On-Call System by supporting evacuations, responding to field emergencies when needed, and following the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Facilitates warehouse meetings and resource allocation as requested.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Personal commitment to, and working knowledge of, the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Comfort with a wide range of groups serving and educating youth to executive teams.
  • Experience working in customer service or hospitality.
  • Knowledge and experience with outdoor recreation and adventure education programs preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work on diverse teams and with a diverse range of people and identities, including those that might be different than your own lived experience.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive and effective communicator and collaborator.
  • Possess skills to promote a welcoming and inclusive community culture.
  • Must have held a driver’s license for more than 5 years with a clean driving record.
  • Experience driving large vehicles with trailers preferred.

 

Work Experience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to participate in all site and course activities and to maintain energy, strength, and focus to support students and staff.
  • Ability to participate in vigorous to moderate physical activity including but not limited to backpacking, camping, and/or rock climbing.
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions, occasionally during poor weather.
  • Ability to lift, crawl, bend, carry and pull. Work is sometimes done in confined spaces and at height.
  • Occasionally must carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time, seasonal position (April-October) with a daily per diem rate starting at $135.
  • The general schedule is approximately 22 days/month based on a 5 out of 7 days/week schedule, which many need to flex due to programming needs, with weekends and/or holiday work required based on COBS’s program calendar.
  • 56 hours sick /year benefit
  • Onsite housing provided; Colorado Warehouse Manager is required to live on the premises at COBS’s Leadville, CO basecamp.
  • Meals provided in the summer months, ongoing meal assistance looks different during shoulder seasons depending on the program, without deduction of wages.
  • Eligible for Professional Deals.
