Waterfront Coordinator, YMCA Camp Chingachgook on Lake George, NY, Extended seasonal Position
YMCA Camp Chingachgook is looking to hire a dynamic leader to oversee the day to day operations of all our waterfront programs between the beginning of April through the end of October 2018. The waterfront director will provide leadership, training, supervision and evaluation to staff & lifeguards leading waterfront activities during our Spring & Fall Outdoor Education/ Group Service Season as well as our Summer Camp Season (June-August). This position will supervise all waterfront operations including: program activities (sailing, swimming, canoeing, boating, waterskiing), boat use needs for our adventure trips, the Y-Knot adaptive sailing program, communication with maintenance department for facility repairs, and work within budget to purchase supplies and maintain equipment.
Must maintain a high level of safety and proactively manage all risk while adhering to Department of Health and American Camp Association standards. Must be familiar with motorboat operation, sailing, and experience with lifeguard management or aquatics is a plus. Must have at least three seasons of experience working on a waterfront or in a pool setting. Must be at least 21 years old and certified in WSI, lifeguarding, CPR, and Public Vessel motorboat licensed (or willing to be trained upon hire). This unique opportunity will allow the right candidate to take on the responsibility of overseeing all waterfront operations for a diverse range of programs from summer camp to adventure trips as well as outdoor education programs for schools and retreats serving both adults and families.
