Description of Organization: ETC is a non-profit, volunteer based organization that provides outdoor adventure and environmental education experiences for people of all abilities. ETC conducts Sea Kayak, Whitewater Rafting, and Cross Country Skiing trips for people with disabilities as well as extended Youth LEAD Programs for disadvantaged youth. Through expeditionary 14 & 24-Day Courses containing elements of Sea Kayaking, Backpacking, and Whitewater Rafting, the Youth LEAD Program (YLP) creates a vibrant community of confident, compassionate, and environmentally savvy young leaders equipped with essential life and leadership skills.

Position Overview: The Program Associate will work under the supervision of ETC’s Youth LEAD Program Manager and will be responsible for providing administrative and field support for 5-6 summer courses and a year-round Fellowship program. This includes: food and gear purchasing, organizing, and cleaning; transporting participants; and supporting instructors in pre/post course activities and on resupply days. This position assists with the facilitation of YLP Instructor Training, pre-trip orientations, and Graduation ceremonies. The Program Associate will help in administrative tasks including but not limited to conducting student interviews, on-boarding students, and preparing course materials. The Associate will receive training on ETC specific policies and procedures and may be asked to share on-call tasks as needed throughout the summer, as well as facilitate activities in the field with high school aged students.

Qualifications & Requirements:

●  Field experience with instructing outdoor/adventure education programs (backpacking a plus)

●  Experience working with diverse and underserved communities of youth (14-18)

●  Interest in streamlining logistical systems - gear, food, student journals

●  Positive communication skills and ability to give and receive constructive feedback

●  Demonstrate professionalism and alignment with ETC’s inclusive values and mission

●  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

●  Flexibility with work schedule (includes some weekends and evenings/early mornings)

●  Ability to use Mac based computer programs

●  Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving history

●  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs, sometimes on uneven terrain

●  WFR or WFA emergency medical training

●  Must be 21 years of age

●  Ability to speak Spanish (preferred)
