Ueli Steck, one of the greatest mountaineers of the last fifty years has died in the Himalayas while training for an ascent on Mount Everest. In a report on Reuters, Kamal Prasad Parajuli, an official with Nepal's Department of Tourism, confirmed that Steck died while climbing Nuptse. He said Steck "slipped and fell 1000 metres" in the Western Cwm, near Camp Two.
