Job Description

Join us for a FABULOUS summer as one of our Waterfront Managers for the 2020 season of Interlochen Arts Camp.  The Waterfront Manager oversees the waterfront facility for their assigned location. This position works cooperatively with the waterfront leader for the divisions that utilize their location. The waterfront manager ensures the facility is safe and following all regulations.  The Waterfront Manager manages the lifeguards on duty for the location and also assists or manages remote location waterfronts. This position will also aid staff as needed to support recreation electives and regular cabin night activities.  Housing and ALL meals are included!

DATES AND SALARY:

  • Monday, June 14, 2020 through Tuesday, August 10, 2020

  • $2,050/summer (Housing is provided and is located in a rustic cabin setting with campers and cabin counselors)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Share a living environment with campers ranging in age from 8-18 years old

  • Must be 18 years of age. In most cases, Recreation and Camp Life staff must have one year of independent living following high school graduation in order to be considered for employment in this area

  • Physically able to assist with preparation, hauling of equipment, cleaning and maintenance of camp division facilities and spaces

  • Recreation and Waterfront staff must have the ability to effectively engage in appropriate communication (verbal and non-verbal) with students and other staff.

  • Exhibit outstanding organizational skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Manage emotions appropriately and professionally in high-stress situations

  • Daily duties will be both inside and outside regardless of weather

  • Ability to function effectively and work cooperatively with peers

  • Commitment to self-care (adequate sleep, physical exercise, nutrition, mental acuity)

  • Self-advocacy skills to seek assistance from others when facing difficulty

  • Manage multiple commitments and responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met

  • Outdoor Education or lifeguarding background a plus
  • Must be lifeguard certified – training provided

  • Small craft certified – training provided

  • May be required to drive an Interlochen vehicle – drivers license required
