POSITION SUMMARY

The Recreation Assistant for Club Sports & Outdoor Recreation will assist in the logistical planning, coordination, and operation for the Competitive Club Sports programs (Ultimate Frisbee and Water Polo) and the Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program (GORP). Duties consist of coordination of travel/logistics, supervision of student participants, weekend travel with programs, and management of GORP equipment. 

 

This role requires the candidate to travel occasionally on overnight trips (up to 20% of the time).
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in logistical planning, coordination and operation for the Competitive Club Sports programs
  • Assist in logistical planning, coordination, and operation of the Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program
  • Supervision of students
  • Management of any equipment required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Less than six months work experience required
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification are required, but opportunities exist after hiring for college to provide these.
  • Valid driver’s license with no traffic violations. Be able to drive large 11-passenger vans, and minibus during daytime and nighttime.
  • Strong ability to plan and organize events and travel
  • Adaptability to student needs, events, and changes is critical
  • Strong Interpersonal versatility skills

Preferred Qualifications

PR/First Aid/AED certification are preferred. Opportunities exist after hiring for Grinnell to provide these. Valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.

Be able to drive minivans, large 11-passenger vans, and minibus during daytime and nightime driving times.
