Job Description

Are you hoping to work part time this summer in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains? Do you like the idea of working at a vibrant summer camp but don’t want to be around kids the whole time? Living Earth School needs someone like you! We are looking for a quick-minded person able to work independently but also have fun packing gear and food for our expeditions. There will be lazy afternoons with opportunity to swim in the river. We need good people to work the behind-the-scenes magic this summer! The Living Earth School encourages nature connection through survival skills, wild games as well as quiet time in the woods, multi-day expeditions, Counselors-in-Training programs and more. We run Day Camps all summer and this year we are expanding our canoe and backpacking offerings! We work to train people continuously so that Staff as well as Campers gain self-esteem, work cooperatively and make new friends, as they gain confidence in both living and feeling at home in the natural world. This is a camp where campers AND staff are truly looked after and cared about. It is a place where everyone can try new things and discover more about who they are.

Our part-time Operations and Logistics Intern will work under the Expedition Coordinator and Trip Leaders to help ensure a smooth trip. They are in charge of organizing trip food, group gear, rentals and driving shuttle cars. These tasks will be closely supervised at first through hands-on training, and the Intern will be given more and more responsibility as the summer progresses, according to their experience. This position is based at our day camp location, and the Intern can participate in Day Camp activities (like swim time!) while balancing their pack-out duties. The Intern is expected to be available to assist with First and Last Day duties of each expedition which will include Sundays and Fridays. Work hours are part time and more flexible than other camp staff positions.

We look for folks that are outgoing, fun, positive minded, responsible, competent, personal growth oriented, team players, open communicators and ready to dive into the adventure of camp and make the most of it.

**Please note that the salary listed is paid weekly, and this is a part time position!**
