Executive Director Job Description

Mission Statement: AdventureServe Ministries seeks to create a Christ-centered community and encourage growth through confrontational experiences with God, self, others, and nature.

Personnel

  • Foster a Christ-centered community amongst all staff members.
  • Develop and implement personnel policies.
  • Oversee the hiring and management of all employees.
  • Oversee job descriptions, contracts and pay scales for all positions.
  • Encourage professional development for every employee.

Program

  • Executive oversight of all programs and implementation.
  • Assist with staff training and general leadership.
  • Assist when necessary with curriculum writing and material editing.
  • Monitor & document compliance to risk management plan.
  • Coordinate and regularly monitor all insurance policies.
  • Guide overall vision of programs within the mission and capacity of organization.

Places & Property

  • Oversee maintenance, construction and renovation of all camp facilities.
  • Represent organization as owner of all properties, landlord of any rental contracts and tenant of any lease arrangements.
  • Acquire or sell property under guidance of the Board.
  • Monitor current and future programming in regards to spaces both owned and leased for the best service to our mission.
  • Oversee vehicle management, ownership, and insurance

Public Relations & Recruitment

  • Oversee and ensure the implementation of the marketing plan and calendar.
  • Oversee development of logos/symbols/phrases.
  • Actively guide or assist development of promotional materials.
  • Maintain organizational presence at key conferences and special events.

Development of Resources

  • Oversee and ensure the implementation of a strategic fundraising plan.
  • Ensure ongoing donor care and communications.
  • Oversight and active involvement in grant-writing and foundation relationships.
  • Coordinate regular fundraising events.
  • When possible, give presentations to partnering churches and organizations.

Financial management

  • Prepare and oversee the annual budget to be approved by the board.
  • Supervise any staff members or contracted individuals such as bookkeepers or accountants in the management and reporting of organizational finances.
  • Follow ECFA guidelines in ethical and practical management of resources.
  • Provide monthly reports to the board and maintain an ongoing awareness of organizational assets, cash flow, liabilities and critical accounts.

Vision Casting & Strategic Planning

  • Regular dialogue with Board and staff members.
  • Implement AdventureServe Ministry values and principles.
  • Regularly review and clarify mission and vision statements.

Communication with Board of Directors

  • Monthly updates and ongoing relationship building with members.
  • Implement board decisions.
  • Assist Board Officers with the planning of board meetings.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new board members.

Administration

  • Executive oversight of program and service contracts.
  • Executive oversight of systems and implementation of administrative operations.
  • Review organizational mailings before distribution.
  • Primary signer of checks, contracts and official documents.

Personal Qualities

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, an authentic faith based on the Bible, and tenants of the Apostle’s Creed. 
  • Be a clear and regular communicator to all according to your abilities.
  • Recognize the best for the whole, above yourself and the ultimate authority of the board and the organizational mission.
  • Grow teams, foster servant hearts, praise abilities of others, and grow the Kingdom of God within the ministry’s circle of influence.
  • Promote diversity of culture and perspective within the Christian tradition.

Benefits of Position

  • Full-time salary based on experience of $35,000 – $45,000.
  • Healthcare reimbursement, paid sick leave and paid vacation time.

  • Flexible work schedule as long as it meets organizational purposes.
  • Ongoing support and guidance from the board of directors.
