Bond Park is seeking energetic individuals who are at least 18 years of age and interested in facilitating low and high-element ropes course programs at the new Bond Park Challenge Course. This position will serve as a Rope Course Facilitator. Facilitators can expect to work outside during all types of weather and with people of all ages and abilities including and not limited to school groups, sports teams, community organizations such as scouts, non- profit groups, and employees from corporate employers.

This non-benefited position is open for Seasonal Full-time and Temporary Part-Time employment. We are seeking seasonal Facilitators to work up to 40 hours a week from June –August, but not to exceed 5 months and 29 days and part-time, year-round Facilitators to work up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of  999 hours per year.  

Applicants should be able to work weekdays, or weekends from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with some occasional evenings 
 

Typical Tasks
  • Provides safe, high-quality, interactive facilitation of Bond Park Challenge Course facilities (Leap of Faith, Giant Swing, High Adventure Course, and Low Teambuilding Course).  
  • Engages in customer service by communicating with participants, group leaders, organizations, and community members.
  • Works with managerial staff to ensure program programs are safe, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive. 
  • Lifts and carries up to 25 lbs on a regular, recurring basis; and as much as 50 lbs occasionally, such as ropes, harnesses, and related equipment and supplies. 
  • Climbs to heights of 45 ft. and balance on cables and swing on ropes. 
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of challenge course programs and operations; knowledge of equipment and supplies required for challenge course operations; strong customer service skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing skills; good communication skills; interpersonal skills; ability to be taught and trained a variety of task and techniques; ability to tie a variety of knots, belay, put on harnesses and safety gear; ability to talk and engage with others.
 

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE
Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prefers experience in facilitation at an experiential challenge course program.
Requires background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.

Availability:  Description Cary's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is seeking enthusiastic individuals to serve as Facility Attendants at Bond Park. This position would help with the daily operation of the Bond Park Challenge Course, split between office administration, program supervision, and program facilitation. You may be the right candidate for this position if you enjoy working outdoors, value teamwork, and have a can-do attitude. We offer leadership development, team building, private parties, and public adventure programs.  This non-benefited position is open for Seasonal Full-time and Temporary Part-Time employment. We are seeking one seasonal Facility Attendant to work up to 40 hours a week from May- September not to exceed 5 months and 29 days and one part-time, year-round Facility Attendant to work up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of  999 hours per year.    Typical Tasks Assists with course maintenance, equipment, and inspection.   Manages group reservations and builds relationships with participants, group leaders, organizations and community members. Clearly communicates operating procedures and guidelines to all staff to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with safety standards. Provides on-site supervision for challenge course programs, camps and adventure days and acts in lieu of the Challenge Course Manager as needed. Oversees implementation of risk management practices and Emergency Action Plan. Works with appropriate staff to ensure program facilities are safe, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive. Trains staff, or oversees training of staff, on all day-to-day operations and rescues. Renders first aid in case of minor injury. Perform other job-related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of challenge course programs and operation; general knowledge of equipment and supplies required for challenge course operation; general knowledge of computers and related software; good organizational skills; skills in the operation of common office equipment; skills in teamwork; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to exercise judgment in controlling the activities, behavior, and safety of program participants; ability to supervise other staff.    Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Prefers two or more years of experience in facilitation at an experiential challenge course program.  Requires Bachelor’s degree in experiential education, outdoor recreation, adventure education or equivalent industry experience.   Requires background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
