Job Description

Job Summary: The program manager leads the Yellowstone program team, and they are ultimately responsible for the Yellowstone Wildlife/Winter Ecology Program’s and Bitterroot Wildlife Internship’s vision, strategy, and execution of goals. In addition to high-level program management, the program manager will also be responsible for certain aspects of program implementation, including maintaining existing and fostering new relationships with research and community partners. The program manager will also be integral in the hiring and training of field staff, especially with regard to research and service projects. The program manager will also oversee the permitting processes that allows Yellowstone winter and wildlife ecology courses to operate on public lands in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, including on National Park Service and US Forest Service lands.

Qualifications

Required:

·        Three to five years or more experience in relevant positions, supervising staff, developing and executing educational programs, overseeing budgets and finances;

·        Two to three years of experience in education leadership, including curriculum development, program implementation, and evaluation;

·        Proficiency in project planning, organization, and management, including the ability to multitask and keep track of multiple simultaneous projects–ability to balance big picture thinking with paying attention to details;

·        Adept at using technological tools to manage projects and organize/drive workflows (i.e. prior experience with project management tools, databases, etc., such as Salesforce, Dropbox/Box/Google Drive, Asana, InstaGantt, etc.);

·        Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners and students from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, and members of the LGBTQ+ community;

Preferred:

·        Bachelor’s OR Master’s degree, ideally in biological sciences, ecology, natural sciences, or education;

·        Experience partnering with Native American Tribes to deliver educational programming;

·        Field experience in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem—lived experience and knowledge of local ecologies, communities, and history;

·        Prior experience conducting field-based wildlife research beyond the undergraduate level;

·        Experience with quantitative and qualitative program evaluation, ideally with an emphasis on evaluating educational programs;

·        Fluency in Spanish and English

·        Valid Wilderness First Responder Certification

Compensation: This is a salaried, exempt position. Salary range is $57,076-$62,784/year. Pay Grade E (Manager Level). Starting salary will be based on relevant experience, skills, and education.

Location/Schedule: This is a full-time, salaried position based in Missoula, MT. The position will require occasional field time including but not limited to staff training and field visits to meet with partners.
