Wild Life – The Movie

I got the opportunity to see an advance screening of WILD LIFE, the latest film from directors Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. Chai and Jimmy are spouses and the directorial team behind Meru the story of Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk’s attempt to climb Shark’s Fin Peak in the Himalayas, the Oscar Award winning Free Solo following Alex Honnold’s free climb of El Cap in Yosemite, and The Rescue, the story of the rescue of thirteen Thai soccer players from a flooded cave in Thailand.

WILD LIFE follows conservationist Kris Tompkins on an epic, decades-spanning love story as wild as the landscapes she dedicated her life to protecting. After falling in love in mid-life, Kris and the outdoorsman and entrepreneur Doug Tompkins left behind the world of the massively successful outdoor brands they’d helped pioneer — Patagonia, The North Face, and Esprit — and turned their attention to a visionary effort to create National Parks throughout Chile and Argentina. WILD LIFE chronicles the highs and lows of their journey to effect the largest private land donation in history.”

This is a tremendous story that spans decades of the life and careers of both Kris and Doug. How they met and married in mid-life and gave up high-powered business careers to dedicate themselves to preserving and rewilding millions of acres of land in Argentina and Chile. It’s an inspiring and emotional story and I highly recommend you see it.

WILD LIFE will be released by Picturehouse in theaters beginning April 14, with a broadcast debut on National Geographic Channel set for May 25, followed the day after by a launch on Disney+.
