Join us for a FUN summer as one of our Recreation Program Assistants for the 2020 season of Interlochen Arts Camp. This position is responsible for facilitating the day to day recreational electives/activities for our junior and intermediate campers (ages 8-14).  This position will also be responsible for work in the recreation department, both in the office and with campers and staff as needed to support activities and regular cabin night activities.  Housing and ALL meals are included!

DATES AND SALARY:

• Monday, June 21, 2020 through Tuesday, August 10, 2020

• $1,750/summer (Housing is provided and is located in a rustic cabin setting with campers and cabin counselors)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Share a living environment with campers ranging in age from 8-18 years old

• Must be 18 years of age. In most cases, Recreation and Camp Life staff must have one year of independent living following high school graduation in order to be considered for employment in this area

• Physically able to assist with preparation, hauling of equipment, cleaning and maintenance of camp division facilities and spaces

• Exhibit outstanding organizational skills

• Strong leadership skills

• Recreation and Waterfront staff must have the ability to effectively engage in appropriate communication (verbal and non-verbal) with students and other staff

• Manage emotions appropriately and professionally in high-stress situations

• Daily duties will be both inside and outside regardless of weather

• Ability to function effectively and work cooperatively with peers 

• Commitment to self-care (adequate sleep, physical exercise, nutrition, mental acuity)

• Self-advocacy skills to seek assistance from others when facing difficulty

• Manage multiple commitments and responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met

• Outdoor Education background a plus

• May be required to drive an Interlochen vehicle and so must be eligible through Interlochen’s process
