Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Coordinators are a key part of our leadership team.  Each Coordinator supervises one aspect of camp- either an age group or a camp program.  Coordinators have a full camp responsibility for everyday processes.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises the schedules, equipment, and staffing for all sports camps.  Directly responsible for supervision of the Multi-Sport Camp Senior Counselors, and the Sports Coordinator Intern- Responsible for goal setting, mid summer and the end of summer evaluations.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Head Coaches for weekly sports camps- help facilitate facilities schedules, equipment requests, and camp processes (arrival/dismissal, orientation, etc) 
  • Serves as a liaison with the Camp Coordinator in regards to schedules, facilities coordination and staff issues.  
  • Serve as an integral part of the central leadership team- attend daily staff meetings, help plan and implement camp wide activities and events, and be a driving force in staff training. 
  • Serve as the most visible face of camp with parents and visitors- assist in check in and out, make follow up calls and cultivate relationships with camp families. 
  • Reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Take the lead to make sure camp is set up and broken down correctly, both daily and for the summer. 

Other Job Duties:

Depending on the age group or specific area of camp, corollary responsibilities may exist for equipment management and/or travel or camper extended day programs.  

Relationships:

Coordinators work together with every group at camp- leadership, aquatics, physical plant, campers, parents, faculty and staff. 

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, management, psychology, or other) and at least 5 years working with children and prior experience supervising staff.  Preference for candidates with extensive camp or large program experience.  Applicants must be able to work 7 of the 8 weeks of the camp season, and all of the staff training dates. 

Physical Aspects of the Job:

Camp Christopher is a 175-acre camp, with 2 pools, seven fields, and countless hills.  Some camps travel off campus, trekking or climbing.  Candidates must be able to maintain an active walking presence on camp, move equipment up to 30lbs, and maintain energy during long days outdoors.  The camp day is 8:45-4pm, but extended programs and staff meetings happen before or after camp.
