Mount Everest, while the highest peak in the world, is not considered the most dangerous mountaineering challenge. The  ‘glory’ of climbing Mount Everest and the fact that it does not require elite mountaineering skills means the non-professional climbers, with enough money, can make it to the top. Guiding people to the summit is now big business and more a logistical challenge, than an elite technical skills challenge.
