Birch Trail Camp for Girls is a traditional summer camp for girls. We offer a large variety of land and water sports, climbing, arts and crafts, dance, horseback riding and much more (you name it-we teach it)! Located on the east shore of Lake Pokegama in beautiful northwestern Wisconsin, Birch Trail also has one of the country’s premier wilderness tripping programs. A camper at Birch Trail will spend her summers under lush, tall trees, and see many animals and birds, including our resident bald eagles! Birch Trail is a special place in a magnificent setting, where girls cultivate friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
Part of the benefit of coming to camp is to experience things that cannot be done at home. Wilderness trips are fun, new, exciting and challenging adventures for most campers; these special trips give campers the opportunity to discover a new world and to become comfortable in it. The ability to gain knowledge and skills and apply them to new situations is an important step toward self-directed living. In the beautiful and natural surroundings of the Northwoods, learning responsible and enjoyable camping skills is an excellent arena in which kids can learn and practice these skills. It is on these camping trips that, in addition to the idyllic experiences of sleeping in a tent, making s’mores over a campfire and exploring nature’s incredible bounty, campers gain a sense of accomplishment and respect for her surroundings. Beyond the physical beauty of the experience, outdoor camping trips provide an excellent venue for personal growth, leadership and team building. Specially trained staff and counselors lead each trip, under the guidance of our longtime wilderness trip director. Our trip leaders are carefully selected for their deep appreciation for the wilderness and are among our most mature and responsible staff.
