Cal-Wood Education Center is a private, non-profit organization located 35 minutes NW of Boulder, Colorado in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. We are located at 7,800 feet and include about 1,040 acres of land. Cal-Wood runs residential (one to five day) conservation education programs to area schools.
By using Life and Earth Science as a medium, we teach all subjects to the Colorado Academic Content Standards. We teach topics to all grade levels, although predominantly 4th-8th grades.
We also target schools who have a high percentage of students on “free or reduced lunch”. Schools with a lower income usually have a high population of students who speak Enlish as a Second Language. Cal-Wood uses “sheltered” instruction to ensure all students will understand the concepts taught. We teach in English, but with the “sheltered” technique, all language learners will be able to understand.
We are looking for serious educators – we are looking for motivated, and flexible applicants, who are excited to be challenged.
