Camp Ondessonk is primarily a summer camp and we see around 2700 campers every summer. The summer camp program is very traditional and takes full advantage of our unique site as we fully immerse our campers in nature. During the school year, our functions diversify greatly. Our outdoor education program hosts around 800 students from schools from Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Kentucky. The outdoor education program functions similarly to summer camp in that students stay in our rustic treehouse cabins and participate in some of the same programs. Our outdoor education programs include teambuilding, low and high challenge course, horseback riding, boating, archery, rock climbing and rappelling, hiking, orienteering, as well as environmental education programs such as forest and aquatic ecology. Our evening programs embrace the darkness with night hikes, astronomy, and camp fires among others. We are also a host venue for Road Scholar which is a travel and adventure service for adults. On the weekends Camp hosts many special events and family weekends such as Mother-Daughter and Father-Son Camps, the Ondessonk Trail Run, and several volunteer work weekends. We also function as a conference and retreat center, event venue, hiking and riding destination, public campground, and horse ranch.
