Catalina Island Camps, Inc. operates four programs for youth and adults at Howlands Landing on Catalina Island. Its summer resident camp, Catlaina Island Camps for boys and girls grades 3 through 10, offers one to four week sessions during its nine-week season. The Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (CELP), an environmental science program with a marine emphasis for school groups in grades 4 through 12, operates in the spring and fall. The camp also holds the Jean-Michel Cousteau Family Camp for one week each august and rents the camp facilities to recreational groups throughout the sping and fall, primarily on weekends. The facility on the island is open from mid-March until mid-November each year. It closes for the winter months due to poor access in stormy weather.
