The Clallam County Family YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communities in beautiful Port Angeles, Washington (bordered by Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca). With snow-capped mountains and blue water on the edges of town, we enjoy abundant opportunities for world-class backpacking, mountaineering, sea kayaking, and cycling. Port Angeles is linked to the city of Victoria, BC, by a ninety-minute ferry ride. Seattle is a two-and-a-half hour journey by car and ferryboat to the east.
Teen Programs at the Clallam County Family YMCA
include YTEAM (teambuilding and leadership development for eighth-graders) and the Expedition Club for high school students. YTEAM begins with a weekend retreat and continues to form a strong team in after-school meetings.
The Expedition Club features outdoor adventure and community service. Club members have monthly meetings and weekend expeditions, and a three-week international summer expedition. Typical weekend expeditions include bike touring, surfing, kayaking, cross-country skiing, and the Urban Plunge, a weekend of service to the Seattle homeless community. The Global Service Expedition to Mexico offers students the opportunities for cross-cultural exchange, service learning, and recreational travel.
