Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences is a K-12 independent school located in Santa Monica, CA. Crossroads was founded upon five basic commitments: to academic excellence, to the greater community, to the arts, to the development of a student population of social, economic and racial diversity, and to the development of each student’s physical well being and full human potential. The Environmental and Outdoor Education program, one part of the Human Development department (which includes Physical Education, Life Skills / Mysteries, Community Service, Counseling and EOE), offers students a wide variety of outdoor expereinces. EOE programs are designed to introduce students to the environmental, recreational and educational opportunities offered by southern California. Programs can include sailing, kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, surfing, hiking, geology, ecology, marine biology field study, literature and the natural world, creative writing, winter camping and mountaineering as ways to explore our environment and develop a personal relationship with this environment.
