he Get Out and Learn program uses experiential, adventure-based learning to educationally engage youth who are at risk of dropping out of school. Through Get Out and Learn, students are more motivated to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education and/or meaningful work. Most importantly, they leave the program with greater self-esteem and a sense of personal responsibility that lasts a lifetime. Get Out and Learn (formerly GOAPe) has offered an academic alternative to students chronically truant from San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) high schools since 1992. Today, Get Out and Learn is a district-wide, semester-long program serving nearly 50 youth each year. Get Out and Learn is a great opportunity to work in an experiential education program within the public school system.
