GirlVentures offers two Summer Outdoor Adventure Programs forgirls entering grades 7-9. Project Courage, for girls entering 7th and 8th grades, is a 14-day exploration of the Point Reyes National Seashore and Transitions, for girls entering 9th grade, is a 14-day expedition through the breathtaking backcountry of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Overall course elements include: rock climbing, canyoneering, backpacking, creative expressive activities, group initiatives, “sola” time and sea kayaking. During the expeditions, girls learn new skills and then take on more and more responsibility and leadership. There is emphasis on problem-solving, self-expression, and conflict resolution. GirlVentures is committed to bringing together groups of girls from all over the Bay Area. In an effort to include girls from economically diverse backgrounds, 1/3 of the program participants pay full tuition, 1/3 receive partial tuition assistance and 1/3 receive full tuition assistance.
