INNER QUEST, Inc. is an outdoor experiential education organization encouraging holistic growth through “safe, challenging adventure.” Using demanding and exhilarating adventure activities, INNER QUEST, Inc. strives to enhance each participant’s self-awareness, compassion for others and understanding of the environment. INNER QUEST’s philosophy maintains that such experiences hold therapeutic as well as recreational value for all populations regardless of age, background, physical or mental capabilities. Annually our adventures involve more than 8,000 students participating in cooperation with over 200 schools, colleges and businesses. Most programs are designed in consideration of the educational objectives outlined by the sponsoring organization and may vary in design from a one-day rockclimbing course to a 28-day wilderness experience. Safety is the foremost concern on all programs. INNER QUEST staff are trained and experienced in stressing safety while maintaining the necessary atmosphere of challenge and adventure. INNER QUEST is an active member of the “Association for Experiential Education” and the “Association for Challenge Course Technology” and with our flawless safety record, is considered a leader in the field of safety management. In addition to the programming described above, INNER QUEST has a full-service Challenge Course division offering design, construction, inspection and training services. All course design and construction is supervised by Randy Smith, the President of INNER QUEST. Prior to his involvement in outdoor education, Mr. Smith studied engineering at Old Dominion University and worked as an associate engineer for the Gould Corporation. This design and engineering background is evident in our approach to Challenge Course construction. Mr. Smith has been a presenter at numerous conferences on the subject of Challenge Courses and teaches workshops on course management, design, inspection, construction techniques and staff training. He has served as the President of the Association for Challenge Course Technology from 1993 until 2000. All of this experience results in a very practical approach to course design, low maintenance construction techniques and pragmatic course management. INNER QUEST is a Level 4 Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology and participates in their annual professional conference. Through this activism, INNER QUEST has helped to set the standards in this industry. All management and construction techniques are constantly updated to insure that they are state-of-the-art in this field. INNER QUEST has built well over 200 challenge course projects in all parts of the United States, Europe and Asia.
