The Kawartha Outdoor Education Centre is a not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering an awareness and appreciation for the outdoors. We have creative, curriculum linked programming for students from grade 3 to grade 12. As a small centre located on the shores of Clear Lake, in the heart of the Kawartha’s, we work hard to provide meaningful and engaging programs. We believe that the development of self-esteem and self-confidence in children and teens within a caring and supportive community is fundamental to their ability to learn. We actively encourage participants to live, learn and work co-operatively, while valuing each other’s strengths and differences. Our vision of community extends beyond human communities into an awareness and appreciation for natural communities. This ethic is incorporated into everything we do from the programs we teach, the food we serve, to the way we maintain our grounds. Our overarching goal is to help young people become positive stewards of tomorrow’s communities.
We offer over 45 programs falling into four board categories: nature and science, history, adventure and recreation. Students, teachers and parents alike are overwhelmingly positive about the quality and effort we put into our programming. Join us for a magical experience that will endure for many years to come.
