Founded in 1990, Mountain Alliance is an organization developed to support leadership development through the structure of experiential education by using community service and adventure programs as vehicles for personal growth for the high school aged youth of Watauga County, NC

Experiential education is learninig by doing: fully participating with mand and body.  It si the goal  of Mountain Alliance to provide hands on opportunities for enhancing traditional learning experiences through problem-solving, group initatieand ropes course activities, community service, various wilderness experiences, wildlife workshops, cross-cultural studies and classroom lectures on enviromental awareness.  These and other high-quality alternative programs offer the framework necessary to encourage our youth to take serious responsibility for their personal decisions, therefore improving the quality of life for themselves, their community and eventually the world.
