Founded in 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) is a charter member of the leading outdoor education network in the world. Our wilderness courses, from the mountains of North Carolina to the shores of south Florida to the peaks of South America, deliver our mission to change lives through challenge and discovery. We are a not-for-profit educational organization that serves people of all ages and backgrounds through challenging learning expeditions that focus on character development, leadership, and service. A pioneer in experiential and outdoor education, NCOBS helps individuals and teams discover the strength of character and capacity for leadership needed to serve others and care for the world around them. NCOBS runs over 250 courses a year and employees around 300 staff at our 10 locations.
